Trek to Tringalwadi Fort, Igatpuri (INR 500)

Hey Fellow Travellers, I have written down this blog regarding Trek to Tringalwadi Fort.

About Tringalwadi Fort:
Tringalwadi Fort
Tringalwadi Fort is located in Igatpuri, Nashik, Maharashtra. It is exactly 10 km away from the Igatpuri station. This fort was used to monitor the trading route between the Nashik region and the Konkan region. Also, remains of Jain Caves are present at the base of the Trigalwadi fort which seems to be constructed in the 10th Century. The trek starts from Tringalwadi village which is 3 km away.

Itinerary:
Thane Railway Station - Igatpuri Railway station - Camping at Railway Dam - Travel to Tringalwadi Village - Reach till Start point of the trek - Reach to the fort and explore - Cimb down and walk towards Tringalwadi Village - Travel to Igatpuri station - Lunch at Neel Kamal Hotel - Go to Kasara in a Jeep - Local Train from Kasara to Thane

We started our journey from Thane Railway station at 7.45 pm. We took Mail Express to Igatpuri. I was along with Vaibhav, Omkar, and Tejaswini. We reached the Igatpuri at 10.15 pm. We spoke with 3-4 auto drivers and asked one to take us to Tringalwadi Village for 600 Rs in the morning at 6 am (I have given the contact number below).

We had our tents with us hence we walked till Railway Dam which is 1.7 km far from the station and camped there. (We heard that camping is risky there so Camping is not recommended near Railway Dam, Igatpuri)

In the early morning, our auto came to pick us at 6 am and then we travel towards Tringalwadi Village. We kept our bags in one house and then again travel to start point for the Trek. We had an awesome ayurvedic Tea at one Adivasi village then we moved ahead towards ancient Jain Caves at 7.30 am. The weather was cloudy and we were expecting slight rain too even if it was winter season. We walked from farms and then reached Jain Caves. Many devotees still come here to visit this cave.

We explored the remainings of architecture and rested for some time inside the cave, a more pleasant and peaceful place.

Now the real fun which is the Trek began from the cave. The Trail is well marked. Till the plateau, because of loose gravels, a good grip won't be there hence I recommend you wear proper trekking shoes.

Weather!!

We chilled for some time on the plateau and had some fun by remembering everyone's past college memories. We started climbing again from the south side fort and took a left turn to reach stairs.

These stairs are made by carving into the stone. We climbed all stairs to reach stone-carved Hanuman's Statue and Konkan Darvaaja.

There is a door which is one of the entry to the fort and just after the door, there is a cave where 4-5 people can easily sleep.

We clicked so many pics here and then started exploring the fort. No drinkable water tanks are available on the fort. There is a tree at the top and Shiva's Temple at Northside.

You will get to see Panoramic view along with Tringalwadi Dam, Tringalwadi Village, Hills, etc.

We started to move towards the southside and climbed down till the caves.

Sun was on the top at 11.45 am and we all were soo tired. After a long tiring walk, we reached to Tringalwadi Village and again took the same auto towards Igatpuri station. But since we were too hungry so we asked the auto driver to take us to the best restaurant for lunch, he took us to Hotel Neel Kamal located very near to Mumbai - Nashik Highway. The Veg and Non-veg food were delicious! I would recommend you to taste the food here if you are traveling to or coming from Nashik.

Then we took Mahindra Maxx to reach Kasara and then caught Local train towards CSMT at 4 pm.

Tips:
1. Visit this fort in Monsoon season to explore green lush. Never visit in summer, the temperature will be high.
2. Better to hire Auto Driver or Maxx according to the number of people from the Igatpuri Railway Station.
3. You can have Breakfast and Lunch at Tringalwadi village.
4. Road condition is worst from Tringalwadi village to the Start point of the trek.

Expenses:
1. Train Ticket from Thane to Igatpuri - 75 Rs
2. Auto from Railway dam to Base Village - 600 Rs
3. Lunch at Hotel Neel kamal - 190 Rs/person
4. Tea at base village - 10 Rs/person
